The Utah Jazz travel to Oakland to take on an injury ravaged Golden State Warriors
Golden State Warriors v Utah Jazz
The Golden State Warriors welcome the Utah Jazz to the Oracle Arena with the visitors desperately hanging onto a playoff spot. The home side are decimated by injuries, their star players Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant are all out with Nick Young, Omri Casspi and Patrick McCaw questionable.
The Warriors’ recent form has been patchy without their superstars, they are 3-4 in their last seven including a 93-98 home loss against the Sacramento Kings. Golden State currently sit five games behind the Houston Rockets and ten games ahead of the Portland Trail Blazers in the Western Conference, meaning there is virtually nothing to play for in their remaining ten games.
The Utah Jazz however are fighting hard to remain in the playoffs, currently holding eighth spot and knowing they need to climb higher to avoid the big guns in the first round. They are 1-2 over their last three with losses against Atlanta and San Antonio but did go on a nine game winning run prior to that.
These teams met earlier in the season with the Warriors crushing the Jazz 126-101 in Oakland in December, Utah responding with a 129-99 beat down in Salt Lake City against a full strength Warriors team in January.
While the Warriors are facing an injury crisis, the only man missing for the Jazz is the sparingly used Raul Neto. Rookie guard sensation Donovan Mitchell has taken over recently, averaging 27.2 points over his last five games and taking a huge 36 field goal attempts in the recent 124-120 overtime loss at San Antonio.
Mitchell is averaging 18.5 points on 14-of-34 shooting against Golden State this season, but I expect a big game from Mitchell with Nick Young guarding him instead of Klay Thompson this time around. Supported by Ricky Rubio and Joe Ingles with big men Derrick Favors and Rudy Gobert patrolling the paint, the Jazz have a clear edge in this match up.
Bet of the Day: Utah Jazz -4 at 1.95
Value Bet: Donovan Mitchell 25+ Pts & Utah To Win at 4.20
