Nikola Jokic is odds-on to win the NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for the third season in a row.

The MVP award is given to the player considered to be the best player on the planet, and Jokic has been almost unstoppable in recent years.

The Denver Nuggets centre was top three in scoring and assists, and top five in rebounding as he took the honours in 2020/21, and last year he ranked first in rebounds, fifth in scoring and sixth in assists as he won the MVP award for the second season running.

He now appears to be on course to be named Most Valuable Player for the third season in a row – something only all-time greats Bull Russell, Wilt Chamberlain and Larry Bird have managed.

Jokic is second in assists, top five in rebounding and top 20 in scoring in the entire league, and as a result he is the 5/14 favourite to win the 2022/23 NBA Most Valuable Player award with bet365.

Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid is considered his biggest rival at 5/1 at the time of writing.

Embiid is currently sixth in scoring, 22nd in rebounding and 78th in assists, and although the stats do not jump off the page there is no denying how important his presence is to the team.

The same can be said for the man who is hot on his heels at 13/2, the Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo.

‘The Greek Freak’ is no stranger to Most Valuable Player honours, having won this award in 2018/19 and 2019/20,

Giannis has been staking his claim for his own MVP hat-trick this season and currently ranks fifth in scoring, seventh in rebounding and 39th in assists.

He is hugely important to Milwaukee’s quest to win another NBA Championship and his absence is felt whenever he sits out, as evidenced by the fact they lost four of their six games without him in January.

From there it is a sizeable jump in odds to the next player in the MVP betting, with Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks and Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics considered 14/1 shots.

And after that it goes all the way out to 66/1 where you can find four-time winner, LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers.
