Phoenix Suns at Los Angeles Clippers Predictions & Tips

The Los Angeles Clippers could force Game 7 in the Western Conference Final.

LA just do not seem to know when to quit and at this point it just feels foolish to write them off.

They are 5-1 in their last 6 games at home and could make it 6-1 to force a winner-takes-all clash in Phoenix on Friday.

  • Los Angeles Clippers have played 18 playoff games so far
  • Los Angeles Clippers won Game 6 in the previous 2 rounds
  • Los Angeles Clippers have won 5 of their last 6 home games
  • Los Angeles Clippers’ Paul George is averaging 30.2 points per game in this series
  • Los Angeles Clippers’ Paul George has recorded double doubles in each of the last 3 games
  • Phoenix Suns’ Devin Booker is just 42 of 110 in field goal shooting in this series

Head To Head

  • Phoenix Suns lead the all-time series 140-99
  • Phoenix Suns lead the all-time playoff series 7-5

Phoenix Suns Form & Team News

Phoenix’s run to the Western Conference Finals saw them dump out the defending champions, the Los Angeles Lakers, and then sweep Denver.

Devin Booker, Chris Paul and Deandre Ayton led the charge and it was Booker who lit up the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 1.

Booker ran riot with 40 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists in his first career triple double, and that played a key role in the Suns running out 120-114 winners.

He was nowhere near as effective in Game 2, but Ayton (24 points, 14 rebounds) and Cameron Payne (29 points) picked up the slack. Ayton’s last-gasp bucket lifted Phoenix to a 104-103 win

It was not all good news coming out of the game though, as Booker sustained a broken nose that forced him to wear a protective mask in Game 3.

That mask appeared to have a major effect on his shooting as he was held to just 15 points in a 106-92 loss.

The Suns bounced back to win 84-80, but they lost Game 5, 116-102, and Booker continued to struggle with his field goal range. He has now made just 42 of his 110 attempts in this series.

Phoenix are just one win away from the NBA Finals despite Booker’s struggles, and they go into Game 6 with a full clean bill of health.

Los Angeles Clippers Form & Team News

Los Angeles fought back from 2-0 down to see off Dallas 4-3 in the first round, and then fought back from a 2-0 deficit to beat Utah 4-2 to set up this meeting with Phoenix.

That victory over Dallas came at a price though. Kawhi Leonard racked up 65 points and 19 rebounds across Games 3 & 4, but he then went down with injury and has not returned.

That meant the pressure was on Paul George to continue to deliver and although he put up 34 points in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals, Los Angeles fell to a 120-114 defeat.

He put up another 26 points in Game 2, but when it mattered most he came up short, missing a couple of late free throws that allowed Phoenix the chance to snatch a 104-103 win.

George’s double double (27 points, 15 rebounds) in Game 3, as well as Reggie Jackson’s 23-point showing, helped the Clippers halt their losing ways with a 106-92 win in Game 3.

LA fell to an 84-80 defeat in Game 4 that left them on the brink, but Paul George ensured their postseason campaign would not end with a superb performance in Game 6.

George put up 41 points and 13 rebounds in a 116-102 win that saw Marcus Morris and Reggie Jackson contribute 22 and 23 points respectively.

The go into the must-win Game 6 without star man Kawhi Leonard (knee) as well as Serge Ibaka (back). Ivica Zubac (knee) is day-to-day.
