Cairns hit back in an explosive way on Friday with a 111-80 win against state rivals Brisbane in the Sunshine Stoush.

After being beaten by the Bullets in their previous two matchups this season the Taipans led from start to finish with Rob Edwards leading all scorers with 35 points on 65% shooting.

The win snapped a two game losing streak and the scoreline was both their highest team total of the season as well as biggest winning margin.

Cairns scored 48 of their points in the paint, 16 more than their season average signaling a concerted effort from the coaching staff and players to exploit the weakness of their opponent who have struggled defending that area of the court of late.

Whilst their finals hopes faded a long time ago there is still a lot for this team to focus on for the remainder of the season with players looking to secure contracts for next year both in the NBL and the NBA.

Adelaide led through the majority of the first quarter in their most recent matchup against the Perth Wildcats, then the wheels fell off.

Their opponents took the lead back early in the second and the 36ers struggled to not only reduce the deficit on multiple occasions but also get over the hump to put themselves in front.

The score finished 110-103 which was a lot closer than many predicted it would be. Adelaide have regained some ground in the 3pt% rankings and shot 37% from outside the arc in this one.
