Perth returned from the FIBA break in style! First up last Friday they turned the tables on Brisbane who beat them just prior to the break with a solid 117-89 victory.

Eight players reached double digits with Kristian Doolittle topscoring with 17 points and the bench contributing with 49 points.

Then the second game of the weekend was one that will forever be inscribed in the history books with Bryce Cotton scoring 59 points on 64% shooting with the Wildcats winning 123-112.

Interestingly the bench contributed with only nine points in that matchup with Cotton playing almost 39 minutes.

On the season Perth rank 3rd in scoring, putting up 93.1 points per game but have the 6th ranked FG%. Defensively they are near the bottom, ranking 9th in opposition points giving up 94 per game. Opponents are shooting at the 4th best 3pt rate against the Wildcats.

Illawarra split their double game weekend winning first up against the Breakers but then going down in a thriller to the SEM Phoenix.

The 38 point win against New Zealand was highlighted by strong a strong first quarter and an even stronger 4th quarter.

The Hawks went to the first break with a 32-12 lead with their scoring tempo seemingly unstoppable for their opponents. The final term was also a wipeout with Illawarra scoring 37 points to the Breakers 15.

In their second game of the weekend they took on South East Melbourne on the road and as has happened in their previous losses the Hawks were unable to stop a team that had decided to try and outscore them.

Illawarra led at half time 59-52 but it was clear that the Phoenix’s game plan was to get more shots up and outscore and outpace their opponents.

On the season Illawarra still rank as the top scoring team in the league with an average of 97 points per game. They own the best FG% of any team at 49% aswell as the 2nd best 3pt% at 37.7%.
