Sydney’s finals campaign was rocked before it even got started with the news that All-NBL second team player Xavier Cooks will miss the match after being put under investigation for breaking anti-doping laws.

It adds even more doubt of how far the Kings can go in these finals after losing their previous three matches heading into the postseason, including a 9-point loss to Adelaide, before defeats by Perth and Illawarra.

Despite having a top-two defence in most categories, giving up just 88.2 points per game this season and being the hardest team to shoot against, boasting an opposition field goal percentage of 42.1, the Kings have struggled for consistency on the offensive side of the ball.

With Cooks out it makes Sydney’s interior even more vulnerable than it has been this season and they will be relying on Jaylen Adams and Kouat Noi to attack from the perimeter.
