Valencia are one of the main favorites to win this season’s Eurocup. Hamburg suffered a 20-point loss in the opening round at home to Bourg, so I don’t see them doing any better at Font de Sant Lluis Arena on Wednesday.

Valencia had a successful start to the new Eurocup campaign, earning an 80-64 victory against Hapoel Jerusalem last week away from home, Matt Costello being man of the match with 16 points, four rebounds and one assist.

They failed to replicate such good form to the ACB Liga, suffering a narrow 77-73 defeat to Manresa last weekend. Semi Ojeleye stepped up this time and bagged 19 points while Costello was held at 11.

Valencia had mixed results during the pre-season, losing to Zaragoza 89-66 and Joventut 83-82, while beating Manresa 105-93 and Leyma Coruna 108-85.

Hamburg Form

Hamburg failed to offer any resistance in their Eurocup Round 1 clash at home against Bourg, losing convincingly 100-80.

Their other results across competitions are mixed, losing to Heidelberg 96-89 in the German Cup, but then bouncing back at home against Alba Berlin in BBL, winning 97-80.

Last weekend they were defeated in Munich by Bayern 81-80 despite maintaining 55% field goal, almost 50% for 3-pointers. Brae Ivey was the top scorer with 19 points, while also adding six rebounds and four assists to his name.
