Golden State Valkyries Form
Golden State are the newest addition to the WNBA and were comfortably beaten in their inaugural game at home by the Sparks, 84-67.
They bounced back two nights ago to claim their first-ever win, narrowly edging out the Washington Mystics 76-74 in a dramatic finish.
Despite shooting just 7-of-37 from three-point range, the Valkyries got it done thanks to a standout performance from Veronica Burton, who posted 22 points, nine rebounds, and five assists.
Los Angeles Sparks Form
The Sparks opened their WNBA 2025 campaign with a dominant 84-67 win over the Valkyries, led by an outstanding 37-point showing from Kelsey Plum (11/19 FG).
However, they’ve since suffered back-to-back defeats — first to last year’s finalists Minnesota Lynx, 89-75, and then in Arizona to Phoenix Mercury, 89-86.
Turnovers proved costly in the latter loss, with the Sparks committing 17. Plum led the scoring again with 25 points, while Azura Stevens recorded an impressive double-double of 23 points and 17 rebounds.
Verdict
Golden State are still finding their feet in the league and were outclassed by the Sparks just a week ago. With home-court advantage and more experience, I expect Los Angeles to cover the –10.5 spread once again.
