Golden State deserve credit for their debut WNBA season, but their road form has been disappointing, with four losses in their last five away games. Minnesota Lynx are once again among the title favorites, and I’m backing them to cover the –9.5 spread at home.

Golden State Valkyries Form

The Valkyries have impressed in their inaugural season, winning nine of sixteen games and holding 4th place in the Western Conference.

They've been in solid form recently, picking up four wins in their last five. Their only slip came in a narrow 81-78 home loss to reigning champions New York Liberty in late June. They bounced back with an 83-78 home win over Chicago Sky.

Golden State followed that up with a dominant 84-57 victory against Seattle Storm, where Tiffany Hayes led the way with 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting, adding four assists and three rebounds.

Minnesota Lynx Form

Minnesota Lynx, last season’s finalists, are having a brilliant start to 2025, sitting top of the Western Conference with 15 wins from 17 games.

They are currently on a three-game winning streak, starting with a 96-92 overtime win over Atlanta Dream, followed by a dominant 102-63 home victory against Connecticut Sun.

Most recently, the Lynx eased past Washington Mystics 92-75, with Napheesa Collier posting 28 points, five rebounds, and four assists in a standout performance.

Verdict

GS Valkyries @ MIN Lynx

Minnesota Lynx are flying this season and have handled business comfortably at home. Given Golden State’s shaky road form, I expect the Lynx to take control and cover the –9.5 line.
