New York Liberty Form
New York Liberty lead the Eastern Conference with an 11-4 record, but their recent form has been inconsistent.
They suffered back-to-back losses to Phoenix Mercury (89-81) and Seattle Storm (89-79), before narrowly beating Golden State Valkyries 81-78 in Oakland, with Breanna Stewart leading the charge with 23 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists.
However, Liberty failed to build momentum and were comprehensively beaten again by Phoenix, going down 106-91. Defensive issues, especially allowing too many second-chance points, were a major concern.
Atlanta Dream Form
Atlanta Dream have made a solid start to the 2025 campaign, winning 10 of their 16 games to sit 2nd in the East.
They’re also struggling for consistency though. After a 93-80 home win over Chicago Sky, they fell flat against struggling Dallas Wings, losing 68-55 on the road.
Most recently, they pushed title contenders Minnesota Lynx to overtime at home but eventually lost 96-92. Brionna Jones stood out with 18 points and eight rebounds.
Verdict
Both sides are out of form, but New York Liberty have the experience and quality to respond. As reigning champions, I’m backing them to take control and leave Georgia with a win.
