Seattle Storm Form
Seattle Storm had a slow start to the season, but after securing five wins in their last seven games, they’ve climbed to 3rd place in the West with an 11-7 record.
They ended June with a dominant 97-81 home win over the underdog Connecticut Sun, but followed that up with a heavy 84-57 loss to the Golden State Valkyries in Oakland.
Seattle bounced back in their first July outing, edging Atlanta Dream 80-79 on the road. Nneka Ogwumike was the standout performer with 24 points, seven rebounds, and two assists.
New York Liberty Form
Despite some recent poor performances, New York Liberty still top the Eastern Conference with a 12-5 record.
After edging Golden State Valkyries 81-78 in late June, they suffered back-to-back defeats to Phoenix Mercury (106-91) and Atlanta Dream (90-81).
The reigning WNBA champions got back on track two nights ago with an 89-79 home win over the Los Angeles Sparks, led by Natasha Cloud’s 23 points on 7-of-12 shooting.
Verdict
Seattle Storm have scored 80 or more points in six of their last seven WNBA games. Given New York Liberty’s recent defensive issues, I’m predicting a high-scoring clash to go Over 166.5 points.
