Punter from Dublin wins big with bet reaching odds of 72,000/1 on horses

A lucky punter walked away with a mouth-watering £65,000 after betting £20 on four horses.
The Paddy Power regular in Dublin, placed an 80% each-way Lucky 15 bet on four horses.
It only cost him €24, around £20, but he was stunned when he learned the bet pocketed him a massive €76k, around £65k.
The first of his selections Annie Quickstep raced to victory at odds of 33/1 in the 12.25 Lingfield before Treacysenniscorthy did the business in the 12.50 at Leopardstown at 20/1.
Dalton Highway then won at 7/1 at the same venue, leaving the bet to come down to Sumos Novios. The 16/1 shot was not fancied by many in the 2.50 race but this punter's luck was in as he won in convincing fashion.
It completed a mammoth €76,287 festive windfall for the gambler at the eye-watering odds of over 72,000/1.
A Paddy Power spokesman said: “Staff working in the shop were absolutely buzzing this afternoon when they realised this man’s luck had come in.
“It’s been a testing couple of days for punters but this gentleman’s luck was clearly in, even against such spectacular odds of 72,000/1."
