David Benavidez is the interim WBC super-middleweight champion with a perfect 26-0 record (23 KOs).

Benavidez became a world champion for the first time in his career when he won the vacant WBC title in September 2018, beating Ronald Gavril by split decision.

He then beat Gavril by unanimous decision in his first defence of the belt, before being stripped of the title due to a failed drug test.

The 26-year-old quickly made up for lost time when he returned to action, knocking out J’Leon Love in the second round.

Benavidez then regained the WBC belt in September 2019 when he stopped Anthony Dirrell in the ninth round.

‘El Bandera Roja’ failed to make a single defence of the belt though, having it stripped from him after failing to make weight for his 10th round stoppage of Roamer Alexis Angulo.

He then stopped Ronald Ellis in the 11th round and Kyrone Davis in the seventh round to earn himself a shot at the WBC interim title.

Benavidez won that fight in emphatic fashion, knocking out David Lemieux in the third round last May.

Caleb Plant Form

Caleb Plant is a former world super-middleweight champion with a 22-1 (13 KOs) record.

Plant won the first 17 fights of his professional career to land his first world title shot in January 2019.

He took his big chance, beating Jose Uzategui via unanimous decision to claim the IBF super-middleweight crown.

The 30-year-old knocked out Mike Lee in the third round of his first defence, and then stopped Vincent Feigenbutz in the 10th round of his next defence.

Plant’s good run continued with a unanimous decision win against Caleb Truax in early 2021, and that earned him the biggest fight of his career.

However, his unification clash with pound-for-pound number one, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, ended in disappointment as he was knocked out in the 11th round.

‘Sweethands’ rebounded at the first attempt though, knocking out Anthony Dirrell in the ninth round last October.
