Since last fighting Luis Ortiz in March 2018, Deontay Wilder has been involved in two more thrilling fights - for very different reasons.

First was the all-time classic against lineal champion Tyson Fury that ended in a contentious draw. Many thought Fury did enough to get the decision after thoroughly outboxing Wilder for much of the 12 rounds. Wilder, however, will point to the 12th round knockdown that looked to last more than 10 seconds.

Either way, the draw was enough for Wilder to retain his title and his 10th defence, last time out against Dominic Breazeale in May, was as emphatic a finish as they come, flattening his fellow American with a devastating knockout in the first round.

Now Wilder prepares for a rematch with arguably the toughest opponent he had faced prior to Fury in Cuban Ortiz. Wilder won the first fight with a 10th round knockout and also had Ortiz down in the fifth. However, Ortiz caused plenty of problems for the champion, particularly in the seventh round as Wilder survived to the bell.

Wilder is never going to go down as one of boxing's greatest technicians, but does it matter when he carries sledgehammers in both hands? More than 40 fights into his career he is not going to change now, and he will be looking to fight on the front foot and go in search of another knockout.

Nationality: Cuba
Age: 40 (29/03/1979)
Professional Record: 31-1-0 (26 KOs)

Stance: Southpaw

Luis Ortiz displayed in the first fight with Deontay Wilder exactly why he is one of the most avoided heavyweights on the planet.

The Cuban may have suffered two knockdowns and an eventual knockout, but he went toe-to-toe with Wilder for much of the fight. If the seventh round was another 30 seconds longer, he likely would have got the win and claimed the heavyweight title.

Ortiz has fought twice since the first fight with Wilder, knocking out Travis Kauffman in the 10th and final round in December, before claiming a unanimous points decision over Christian Hammer in March.

Given a second chance to fight for a world title, Ortiz is likely to come prepared and will be confident of his chances considering how close he ran Wilder first time round.

However, Ortiz is giving away a lot of height and reach to Wilder and while the Cuban is the better boxer, Wilder only needs one punch to settle this fight.
