Jack Catterall vs Harlem Eubank Predictions & Tips

Jack Catterall is tipped to win this fight on the judges’ scorecards.

Catterall’s southpaw stance can cause problems for Harlem Eubank, and the move up in weight should also benefit him after seeing him fade late in light-welterweight bouts.

Combine that with a big experience advantage and ‘El Gato’ becomes the pick here.

  • 17 of Jack Catterall’s 30 career wins have been by decision
  • Jack Catterall has not stopped an opponent since April 2019
  • Jack Catterall’s only career defeats have come in world title fights

Jack Catterall Form

Jack Catterall is a former world light-welterweight title contender with a career record of 30-2 (13 KOs).

Catterall made his professional debut in September 2012 and over the next several years he climbed the ladder, claiming multiple minor titles along the way.

One of those victories came in October 2017 when he beat Tyrone Nurse on points to become the British champion.

Another notable win came a year later when he beat Ohara Davies by unanimous decision, and after three more wins that took his record to 26-0, he was awarded a world title fight.

Caterall’s big night ended in disappointment though, as he suffered a hugely controversial split decision defeat to undisputed champion Josh Taylor.

‘El Gato’ rebounded with a points win over Darragh Foley, and they set up a non-title rematch with Taylor by beating Jorge Linares via decision.

The 31-year-old Englishman got a measure of revenge with a points win, and then beat Regis Prograis via decision to earn another shot at a world title.

He again came up short though, dropping a split decision to Arnold Barboza Jr back in February.

Harlem Eubank Form

Harlem Eubank enters this fight with a perfect professional record, having won all 21 of his fights, with nine victories coming via knockout.

Eubank, the nephew of boxing legend Chris Eubank Sr, debuted back in October 2013, but it is only over the past couple of years that he has started to really make a name for himself.

He fought no less than three times in 2023, starting with a unanimous decision win over Miguel Cesario Antin.

The 31-year-old then backed that up with a seventh round knockout of Ishmael Ellis, before stopping Timo Schwarzkopf in the 11th.

It would be 12 months before Eubank fought again, but he made up for lost time with a points victory over Nurali Erdogan last November.

He then backed that up in March of this year, knocking down Tyrone McKenna three times on his way to a 10th round stoppage win.

Verdict

Jack Catterall has the experience edge and is the more skilled of the two fighters.

He should also feel the benefit of the increased weight for this one, so we are backing Catterall for a points success.
