Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury fight on brink of collapsing again
- Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury is scheduled for Saturday, August 6
- Fury was stopped from entering USA last week due to ESTA issue
- Paul reportedly has replacement opponent lined up
A fight between Jake Paul and Tommy Fury is close to being cancelled for a second time.
The pair were originally slated to meet last December, but medical issues forced Fury to withdraw from the contest.
The fight was then rescheduled for August 6 at Madison Square, but ESTA issues are now threatening to force another cancellation.
Fury was prevented from entering the United States for last month’s press conference, and when quizzed by reporters he offered little insight into the reason why his ESTA was denied.
It has been ‘radio silence’ from Fury’s camp since then, and Paul has seemingly grown tired of waiting.
The social media star has laid down a deadline for the British fighter to solve his ESTA problem.
“Tommy is officially out by Wednesday morning if he doesn’t go to the Embassy or come out of hiding,” Paul posted on social media.
“Three other opponents lined up. I’m built different.”
There will be no shortage of fighters interested in taking the payday for fighting unbeaten Paul.
Reports suggest UFC star Nate Diaz could be at the front of the queue to step in and take Fury’s place.
If he does, it will be the third MMA fighter that Paul has faced since entering the world of professional boxing.
He knocked out Ben Askren inside one round before earning a split decision over former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley.
Paul then fought Woodley for a second time last December, after Fury withdrew for their first scheduled fight, and this time Paul knocked out the ex-UFC champion in the sixth round.
