Lawrence Okolie is on the brink of becoming Britain’s latest world champion.
With a crack at the vacant WBO world cruiserweight title coming in only his 16th professional outing, he is set to join a glittering list of stars if he can pass his toughest test.
Glowacki did not look great in his loss to Mairis Briedis and it has been a long time since he last stepped into the ring.
When you combine that performance with ring rust and Okolie’s punching power, you have the perfect recipe for the Brit to claim the belt.
- Lawrence Okolie boasts a perfect 15-0 record with 12 victories coming via KO/TKO.
- Krzysztof Glowacki has not fought since losing the WBO title to Mairis Briedis in three rounds in June 2019.
Lawrence Okolie Form
You do not get much better form than being unbeaten in your entire career.
That is what Okolie is after 15 professional outings since turning pro in March 2017.
The 28-year-old has been in devastating form over the past couple of years with five consecutive TKO victories ensuring that he has now stopped 12 of his 15 opponents so far.
He most recently took out Nikodem Jezewski inside two rounds back in December.
Okolie has not been taken past the seventh round at any point in his career.
Krzysztof Glowacki Form
Krzysztof Glowacki has not stepped foot inside the ring since losing the WBO title to Mairis Briedis inside three rounds back in June 2019.
That defeat ended a five-fight win streak for the experienced Polish fighter.
But while he does have a couple of defeats on his record it is clear to see that Glowacki has faced much tougher opposition than Okolie.
Both of his defeats have come against the very best at cruiserweight – Oleksandr Usyk and the man who succeeded the Ukrainian at the summit, Briedis.
He has shared the ring with a host of notable cruiserweight fighters during a 33-fight career that has seen many, many more successes than failures.
Ring Magazine consider him the fourth best cruiserweight on the planet, but I am wary of reading too much into tha.
He has clearly benefited from the likes of Oleksandr Ursyk stepping up to heavyweight.

Verdict
This is undoubtedly a step up in quality for Lawrence Okolie, but he has the skills and punching power to make it 16-0.
Krzysztof Glowacki may pose a few problems early on, but I expect Okolie to grow into the fight. His power will be too much for the former champion to take.
