Heavyweight boxing has never seen a bout for the four major titles. That could all change with Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua reportedly striking a two-fight deal in one of the most anticipated fights in recent history.
Fury holds the WBC belt and Joshua holds the IBF, WBA and WBO world titles.
Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are two of most high profile fighters and undisputed kings of the boxing world. The pair have yet to clash in the boxing ring despite long and successful careers in the heavyweight division.
The two Britons have big challenges ahead and have to beat some very capable men before it happens, but the money and interest involved means it is almost certain to occur in 2021.
Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn said there is still a number of obstacles to overcome before they square off inside the ring. "The hardest part is to agree to the financial element of the deal,” Hearn told ESPN.
“We have agreed with Tyson Fury and the team, and we can now move forward with finalizing the smaller parts of the deal. The good news for fight fans is that we have agreed to do the two fights and we can now go and dot the I's and cross the T's.
"They also have fights in between to make and get through, and that's another issue.”
