Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder II Preview, Predictions & Betting Tips

Tyson Fury's rematch with WBC world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder takes place in Las Vegas on 22 February. Wilder’s WBC and Ring Magazine belts are on the line as well as Fury’s Lineal status.

A Fury win would put British fighters in charge of the heavyweight division with Anthony Joshua holding the other three significant belts. No fighter has ever held all four major world titles in the heavyweight division.

Tyson Fury’s controversial draw against Deontay Wilder on 1 December 2018 ended in a controversial 12-round split decision draw in front of 17,698 spectators at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Fury spent most of the fight outboxing the American before Wilder landed a right-left combination that put Fury down in round 12. To everyone's surprise, Fury beat the count.

After the fight Fury said, "The world knows I won the fight. I hope I did you all proud after nearly three years out of the ring. I showed good heart to get up. I came here tonight, and I fought my heart out."

The Gypsy King earned a five-fight contract with ESPN worth £80 million and returned to the ring on 15 June 2019. He took on undefeated WBO Inter-Continental heavyweight champion Tom Schwarz at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and won with a second round TKO.

Fury’s next fight was in Las Vegas on 14 September 2019 against undefeated former WBA Continental heavyweight champion Otto Wallin. Fury suffered a serious cut above his right eye in the third round and a cut over his right eye in the fifth round but recovered to win by unanimous decision.

Fury called out Wilder for a rematch and got his wish, with a clause in the contract that guarantees the loser can request Fury vs Wilder III. Fury had an amicable split with trainer Ben Davison who had coached him since late 2017, teaming up with Javan "SugarHill" Steward.

Deontay Wilder Form

Deontay Wilder and most people watching the fight couldn’t believe it when Tyson Fury got off the canvas in Round 12 of their fight in December 2018. It was also a surprise when judges awarded the fight a draw with most feeling Fury had done enough to win on points but Wilder retained his WBC title.

Wilder defended his WBC heavyweight title against Dominic Breazeale on May 18, 2019 and won with a first round knockout. The Bronze Bomber took on Luis Ortiz II in a rematch on November 23, 2019, winning in a seventh-round knockout to retain his WBC heavyweight title after being behind on the judges' scorecards.

There is some concern about a quick turnaround for Wilder as he hasn't competed so quickly after a fight since 2013.
