Tyson Fury will leave Saudi Arabia as the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world next February, according to the bookmakers.
After years of waiting, it was announced on Thursday that all of the heavyweight belts will be on the line in one single fight when Fury takes on Oleksandr Usyk on February 17.
The bookmakers wasted little time in pricing up this massive showdown, and despite his underwhelming performance against ex-UFC star Francis Ngannou, they are predicting victory for Fury.
The reigning WBC champion was knocked down by the novice boxer as he scraped a controversial split decision win last month, but the bookies are perhaps thinking he was guilty of taking Ngannou likely.
That will not be the case in this fight with Usyk, and bet365 is 4/7 about Fury returning home as the undisputed king of the heavyweight division.
He is 7/2 to do it in emphatic fashion by stopping the Ukrainian, while it is 5/4 that he gets the job done by decision.
“You know what's coming, you're getting smashed to pieces,” Fury told Usyk at a press conference to announce the fight.
“You're fighting the best British heavyweight there's ever been. You beat all the rest of them, but you ain't beat Tyson Fury, sausage.”
Usyk, meanwhile, is not being written off as an 11/8 underdog at the time of writing.
The WBA, IBF, WBO and Ring Magazine champion successfully defended his crowns this past summer by knocking out another British fighter, Daniel Dubois, in the ninth round.
Usyk is 6/1 to knock out Fury in Saudi Arabia, while it is 5/2 that he earns the nod from the judges.
“I want to tell one story which looks very similar to our story with Tyson, about David and Golliath,” Usyk said.
“When the Lord gives me Tyson in my hands, I will make my job. The Lord has nothing impossible.”
