Zhilei Zhang is the WBO interim heavyweight champion with a professional record of 25-1-1 (20 KOs).

Zhang made his professional debut in August 2014 and since then has held minor heavyweight titles.

He won his first 22 bouts before the first blemish on his record saw him go to a majority decision draw with Jerry Forrest in February 2021.

The 40-year-old Chinese fighter bounced back later that year when he knocked out Craig Lewis in the second round.

Zhang then needed only 101 seconds to stop Scott Alexander in May 2022, but he was unable to make it three wins in a row in August of last year.

‘Big Bang’ suffered the first defeat of his career, dropping a unanimous decision to Filip Hrgovic.

He rebounded in impressive fashion in April however, stopping Joe Joyce inside six rounds to win the WBO interim belt.

Joe Joyce is a former WBO interim heavyweight champion with a professional record of 15-1 (14 KOs).

Joyce debuted in October 2016 and went on to win several minor titles, including the Commonwealth heavyweight title.

In November 2020 he record a 10th round knockout win over Daniel Dubois, who recently challenged for a world heavyweight title.

He then went on beat another former title contender, Carlos Takam, via sixth round stoppage.

Joyce’s rise to world title contention continued with a fourth round stoppage of Christian Hammer, and in September of last year he reached 15-0 with the biggest win of his career.

The 37-year-old Englishman fought former world heavyweight champion Joseph Parker, and was able to stop him in the 11th round.

However, Joyce’s quest to land a world title shot suffered a major setback in April, when he was stopped inside six rounds by Zhilei Zhang.

These are two veteran heavyweights who are too long in tooth to change things up too much.

Zhang’s speed, accuracy and power served him well in the first fight, and we are expecting repeat scenes here.
