Al Boum Photo attempted to become just the fifth horse to win three Cheltenham Gold Cups in 2021. Sadly, for Willie Mullins, Henry De Bromhead thwarted his historic attempt, as Minella Indo defeated A Plus Tard after a wonderful round of jumping.
Minella Indo is the 6/1 second-favourite to win the 2022 Gold Cup. A Plus Tard is a 12/1 shot, with Al Boum Photo sitting down the betting at 16/1.
The current ante-post favourite is Monkfish, who's won the Albert Bartlett and the Brown Advisory Chase at the last two Cheltenham Festivals. Willie Mullins' star was far from perfect at Cheltenham in 2021, but he had enough class to win and bet365 make Monkfish their 5/1 Gold Cup favourite.
Envoi Allen lost his unbeaten record when falling in the 2021 Marsh Novices' Chase, but he remains a 7/1 shot in the 2022 Gold Cup betting. Runaway Ryanair winner, Allaho can be found at 20/1, with Shishkin a 16/1 chance.
Champ also features in the ante-post betting for next year's Gold Cup. Other names to mention include Galvin, Imperial Aura, Santini, Topofthegame, Latest Exhibition and Next Destination.
