The first Grade One to be staged on the chase course at the Cheltenham Festival is the Arkle Challenge Trophy. Marine Nationale was the odds-on favourite to claim his second Festival title, but recent events at Leopardstown have shaken up the Cheltenham market.

A hugely impressive winner of the Supreme Novices' Hurdle 12 months ago, Marine Nationale was made the odds-on favourite for the Arkle following a flawless chasing debut at Leopardstown. Barry Connell's star carried a similar price into the Irish Arkle, but failed to fire on the day and drifted out to 5/2 for the Arkle after a limp fifth-place finish.

Il Etait Temps edged out Found A Fifty to win a thrilling renewal of the Irish Arkle and they now sit second and third in the Cheltenham betting. Willie Mullins could also be represented by Facile Vega and Gaelic Warrior, who both struggled during the Dublin Racing Festival, along with impressive Fairyhouse winner Hunters Yarn.

Found A Fifty could be joined in the field by stablemates American Mike, Sa Fureur and Zanahiyr. Henry De Bromhead has entered former Triumph Hurdle winner Quilixios. My Mate Mozzie looks set to represent Gavin Cromwell.

Joe Tizzard's JPR One is the highest-placed home runner in the Arkle betting. Oliver Greenhall and Josh Guerreiro have entered last year's Martin Pipe winner Iroko. Other possible runners on day one of the Cheltenham Festival include Venetia Williams' Djelo, Colonel Harry for Jamie Snowden, and Nigel Twiston-Davies' pair of Matata and Master Chewy.
