2023 Boodles Handicap Hurdle Entries

Irish horses have won all of the last five renewals of this handicap and raiders occupy seven of the first ten spots in the betting. Leading the way in the market is Willie Mullins' Tekao, who finished third in his third and final qualifying run in the Spring Juvenile Hurdle.

Sir Allen beat Byker in the Rated Novices' Hurdle at Naas that has produced a couple of recent Boodles winners, so it's no surprise to see the two sitting prominently in the market. Tekao could be joined in the field by stablemate Risk Belle. Cougar could also carry the JP McManus colours into the race for last year's winning trainer, Paddy Roche.

Gary Moore has two juveniles in contention, with Bo Zenith sitting slightly ahead of Perseus Way in the market. Dan Skelton looks likely to run Punta Del Este, with Paul Nicholls' Afadil also likely to take up his entry.

Joseph O'Brien's Nusret sits fourth in the betting, but going around a left-handed track like Cheltenham might not be ideal for him. Other possible runners on day one of the Cheltenham Festival include Emmet Mullins' Mctigue, Pont Audemer for Gavin Cromwell, Jazzy Matty for Gordon Elliott and John McConnell's Jackpot de Choisel.
