The opening day of the Cheltenham Festival is headlined by the Champion Hurdle. Constitution Hill produced another stunning performance to win this race 12 months ago and Nicky Henderson's star remains favourite to win Tuesday's main event.

Here's the latest Champion Hurdle betting and a look at the most likely runners.

2024 Champion Hurdle Entries

Constitution Hill has only been seen once so far this season, maintaining his 100% record in the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton. Henderson's star missed his intended pre-run in the International Hurdle following a poor scope and mucus again appeared in his scope following a disappointing workout at Kempton.

With Constitution Hill now facing a race against time to be fit for the Festival, State Man has also been cut into an odds-on price. Willie Mullins' eight-time Grade One winner continued his dominance on home soil with another easy victory in the Irish Champion Hurdle. State Man was no match for Constitution Hill when they met in last season's Champion Hurdle, which remains his only defeat in Grade One company.

Gordon Elliott could be represented by Irish Point, who powered to victory in the Grade One Christmas Hurdle at Leopardstown over Christmas. Elliott's star was expected to join stablemates Teahupoo and Sire Du Berlais in the Stayers' Hurdle after that three-mile victory, but Irish Point could now be rerouted to the Champion Hurdle, following the Constitution Hill development.

Lossiemouth was slashed for the Champion Hurdle following her superb comeback victory in the International Hurdle, but still looks more likely to enter the Mares' Hurdle, for which she's the odds-on favourite. Willie Mullins has also handed entries to Vauban, Echoes In Rain, Zarak The Brave and Gala Marceau.

Gordon Elliott could be represented again by Zanahiyr and Pied Piper. Nicky Henderson has entered up Luccia, with Not So Sleepy likely to make a fifth appearance in the feature race on day one of the Cheltenham Festival.

Other possible Champion Hurdle runners include Guard Your Dreams, Nemean Lion, Fils d'Oudairies, Colonel Mustard and Under Control.
