Cheltenham Day 1 tips - Our Cheltenham tips for Tuesday are live!

The 2020 Cheltenham Festival is here and we've got our Top 3 Cheltenham Day 1 tips ahead of Tuesday's action at Prestbury Park:

1. ASTERION FORLONGE gets the nod in our Supreme Novices' Hurdle tips

Chantry House and Fiddlerontheroof both travel to Cheltenham with strong each-way chances, and the best British chance has to be Shishkin. Nicky Henderson’s six-year-old has been highly impressive on both of most recent starts, and should be very competitive as he makes his Cheltenham debut.

However, we're siding with ASTERION FORLONGE in the Supreme Novices' and Willie Mullins' novice has displayed a noticeable turn-of-foot on all three of his starts this term, most recently at the Dublin Racing Festival. We can't see soft ground or the uphill finish at Cheltenham causing this dazzling grey any problems!

If you're betting on the opener, Paddy Power are offering free bets for throughout the card when you join them and bet £20 on the Supreme Novices' Hurdle*, while over at William Hill they are paying a whopping seven places on the Supreme Novices!

2. FAKIR D'OUDAIRIES is the selection in our Arkle 2020 tips

The Arkle has been won by an Irish horse in four of the past five years and raiders filled the top three places 12 months ago. None of the British novices have really impressed over two miles this term, so we expect to see more Irish dominance in the 2020 Arkle on Day One of the Cheltenham Festival.

Notebook ran a cracker to see off Fakir D’Oudairies at Christmas, and also battled bravely to deny Cash Back when they clashed at the Dublin Racing Festival. Henry De Bromhead's chaser is a brilliant jumper and deserves to be favourite, but is there room for more improvement? We're not so sure.

However, the same cannot be said for FAKIR D'OUDAIRIES, who jumped like a stag on both of his opening starts over fences. Joseph O’Brien's Drinmore winner then found himself too far adrift of a slow pace as Notebook set off for home, and a couple of errors down the home straight put paid to his chances. Mark Walsh will likely take a more prominent early position at Cheltenham - a track Fakir D’Oudairies has won around in the past - and soft ground should ensure he turns the tables on the market leader, which is why he gets the nod.

3. SUPASUNDAE the best of the Champion Hurdle tips for Tuesday

Rarely have we seen a more open renewal of the Champion Hurdle, and a case can be made for most of those who sit prominently in the betting. Nicky Henderson’s duo of Epatante and Pentland Hill will be popular with punters and may make the frame.

But SUPASUNDAE ran well on his return from injury in the Irish Champion Hurdle, staying on to finish a not-so-distant fourth. Jessica Harrington’s former Coral Cup winner has a decent record at the Festival, and he’s won three prestigious Grade Ones over two miles since the start of 2018.

Last year’s third, Silver Streak has done nothing wrong and offers plenty of appeal at his current price too. But, for me, Supasundae is the selection for the 2020 Champion Hurdle as the best each-way bet in day one’s Championship race.
