Fred Winter Juvenile Handicap Hurdle History

First run in 2005, the juvenile handicap was named in honour of Fred Winter, one of the most famous and successful jockeys of his time.

The Boodles Handicap Hurdle is only open to juveniles, and runners who don't quite make the grade for the Triumph Hurdle often drop down into the Boodles.

Paul Nicholls was the first trainer to win the race on numerous occasions, with his second and third winners coming in back-to-back years in 2015 and '16.

Irish trainer, Gordon Elliott matched Paul Nicholls tally of three winners in 2020, when Aramax rewarded his many backers with a fine victory on day two.
