2023 Mares' Hurdle Entries

Topping the market for this year's renewal is 2020 Mares' Hurdle winner, Honeysuckle. Having won the last two editions of the Champion Hurdle, Henry De Bromhead's mare has seen her unbeaten run come to an end this season, with Peter Molony confirming after her runner-up finish in the Irish Champion Hurdle that Honeysuckle would make the final outing of her illustrious career in the Mares' Hurdle.

Marie's Rock was produced perfectly by Nico De Boinville to win this race 12 months ago. Nicky Henderson's mare went on to win the equivalent race at Punchestown and opened her campaign with an impressive victory in the Cleeve Hurdle. Henderson had intended on entering former Champion Hurdle winner Epatante, but an accounting error meant her name didn't feature in the initial entries.

Having dominated this race for a decade, Willie Mullins hasn't won the Mares' Hurdle for the last four years in a row. Ireland's Champion Trainer could be represented by Grade One winning novice, Brandy Love. Shewearsitwell and Echoes In Rain could also represent Mullins at the Cheltenham Festival.

Kenny Alexander and Henry De Bromhead have also entered up Telmesomethinggirl, with Gordon Elliott likely to be solely represented by last year's runner-up, Queens Brook. Harry Fry's Mares' Novices' Hurdle winner, Love Envoi could fly the flag for Britain, along with Dan Skelton's Lanzarote Hurdle winner, West Balboa.

Other notable Cheltenham Festival entrants include Tom Symonds' French recruit, Royale Margaux, former Martin Pipe winner Indefatigable, Shark Hanlon's Grade One winner Skyace, and John McConnell's mare, Anna Bunina.
