Flooring Porter won his race to be fit in time for the Cheltenham Festival and Gavin Cromwell's star was looking for a third successive victory in the Stayers' Hurdle.

When the rain arrived on Wednesday, Teahupoo was backed into favouritism ahead of Charles Byrnes' runner, Blazing Khal. A big market mover during the course of the morning was French raider Gold Tweet, who was supported into third-favouritism before the off.

Flooring Porter was supported just before the off. Home By The Lee and Klassical Dream could also be backed at shorter than 10/1. Paisley Park and Dashel Drasher were the sole British representatives.

Flooring Porter took his customary position at the head of the field and soon opened a lengthy advantage. Dashel Drasher attempted to keep tabs on the leader early on, with most of the big guns biding their time off the pace.

Coming down the back straight, Danny Mullins attempted to get a breather into Flooring Porter. The pack soon closed up on the leader and when Mullins asked Flooring Porter to go and win his race once again, the response wasn't there.

Teahupoo and Blazing Khal stormed into contention as Dashel Drasher moved into a surprise lead turning for home. Teahupoo had the leader in his sights, but the eyes were drawn to Gordon Elliott's second-string, Sire Du Berlais. Mark Walsh produced his mount perfectly at the final flight and Sire Du Berlais - second to Flooring Porter two years ago - rolled back the years to claim an unlikely victory.

Dashel Drasher just managed to hold off Teahupoo to claim an admiral second-place finish. Flooring Porter held on to finish fourth ahead of Home By The Lee, with Blazing Khal crossing the line in sixth.
