The Cross Country Chase is a fairly new addition to the Cheltenham Festival, having been added to the Day 2 schedule in 2005.

Staged on the unique Cross Country course, a wide array of weird and wonderful obstacles will be scaled during this 3m 6f marathon.

Top amateur jockey, Jamie Codd celebrated his first victory in this testing race in 2017, as he guided Gordon Elliott's Cause Of Causes to victory.

The leading jockey in this unique race is the recently retired Nina Carberry, who rode four winners for Enda Bolger during her career.

Cheltenham legend Tiger Roll won the 2018 and '19 renewals of the Cross Country, before going on to win the Grand National three weeks later.

Gordon Elliott's star then tried to make it three victories in a row in 2020, only to be denied by French raider Easysland, who powered to victory on very testing ground.
