After making a poor start to the Asia Cup, Sri Lanka have bounced back magnificently. They beat Bangladesh to reach the Super 4 and then defeated Afghanistan in the Super 4 opener, revenging their opening match loss.

Afghanistan scored a strong 175 runs batting first in Sharjah. The pick of the Sri Lanka bowlers was Dilshan Madushanka who took 2-36.

Sri Lanka started well with Pathum Nissanka scoring 35 and Kusal Mendis 36 runs. Bahnuka Rajapaksa batted superbly for 31 off 14 balls to see Sri Lanka win by four wickets with five balls to spare.
