Kusal Mendis was superb in the chase, hitting 60 off 37 balls. Dasun Shanaka scored 45 off 33 late on to secure the win by two wickets with four balls to spare.

Afghanistan qualified for the Super 4 with convincing victories over Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Their bowling has been superb, first dismissing Sri Lanka for just over 100 runs and then restricting Bangladesh to 127 in 20 overs last time out. Mujeeb Ur Rahman was brilliant against the Tigers, taking 3-16 in four overs.

Chasing 127 to win, Afghanistan cruised to a seven wicket win. Ibrahim Zadran scored 42* while Najibullah Zadran smashed 43 off just 17 balls to win with nine balls to spare.
