The Heat have won seven of their last eight matches coming into the final. They are in superb form but I feel this will be a hurdle too far for them. My best bet is for the Scorchers to retain their BBL title.

The Perth Scorchers topped the BBL table this season after another dominant season. They are the defending champions and the most successful BBL side in history, but can they retain their title?

Last time out the Scorchers beat the Sydney Sixers in the qualifier. The Sixers batted first, scoring 151 runs in 20 overs as David Payne took 3-33 in four overs.

The Scorchers lost early wickets but a superb 132-run stand by Cameron Bancroft (53) and Ashton Turner (84) saw the Scorchers home. The seven-wicket win was rather convincing in the end.

The Scorchers squad have contributed throughout the season without many dominant players. Everyone has contributed at various stages, which is likely why they have been so consistent.

Brisbane Heat Form

Brisbane Heat are arguably the form team of the BBL at the moment. They struggled earlier in the season but won five of their last six round robin matches to sneak into the playoffs.

From there they beat the Hobart Hurricanes, Melbourne Renegades and Sydney Sixers to make the final. It would be some feat if they can upset the odds again and claim their maiden BBL title.

In the challenger the Heat were brilliant with the ball, restricting the Sixers to a meagre 116 runs in 20 overs. While they lost regular wickets throughout Michael Neser’s 48 runs was enough to steer them to a four-wicket win.

The Heat are likely to remain unchanged. They are still without three top performing players in Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne and Matt Renshaw due to international duty.
