Sydney Thunder vs Adelaide Strikers Predictions

Both sides need a win to boost their finals hopes. The Thunder can wrap up their spot, while the Strikers can move into the top five with a win.

The Strikers have home advantage despite it being a home fixture for the Thunder. But Sydney have had their measure in the last three meetings. I'm backing Thunder to win again after the confidence-boosting victory at the Adelaide Oval on Friday.

  • Sydney Thunder ended a 3-game losing run with victory over Sydney Sixers on Friday.
  • The Thunder recorded the highest BBL score of 232/5 in the win.
  • Thunder batsman Alex Hales scored 110 from 56 balls.
  • Sydney Thunder have won the last 3 matches against Adelaide Strikers.
  • Adelaide Strikers have won 2 of their last 3 matches.
  • Strikers batsman Alex Carey scored 101 in their latest win over Brisbane Heat.

Head to Head

The head to head is locked at 6-6 from 12 previous matches, however the Sydney Thunder have won the last three clashes.

The Thunder did the double over the Adelaide Strikers in BBL09 with two tight victories. They won by three runs in the first fixture before winning by eight runs in the second match up.

Sydney Thunder Form

Sydney Thunder will be full of confidence after a record-breaking win over cross-town rivals the Sydney Sixers on Friday.

Alex Hales struck 110 to help the Thunder record the biggest ever BBL total of 232/5. He was assisted by Callum Ferguson (42), Sam Billings (33) and Ben Cutting (33).

The Sixers were restricted to 185/6 in the run chase as the Thunder ended a three-game losing spell in style in a Sydney derby played at the Adelaide Oval.

Sitting in third spot heading into the game, the Thunder know that victory in this game - or the rematch played on Monday - will all but guarantee them a place in the finals.

Sydney Thunder Team News

Daniel Sams misses the game, as he did against the Sydney Sixers, with a broken hand. He is ruled out of both games of the double header against the Strikers.

Brendan Doggett replaced him in the last game and his miserly 1/24 will likely see him retain his place in an unchanged Sydney Thunder team.

Adelaide Strikers Form

Adelaide still have work to do if they are to make the finals with the Strikers sixth in the standings with two games to play - the back-to-back double header against Sydney Thunder.

The Strikers did their chances the world of good with a dominant 82-run victory over Brisbane Heat on Thursday at the Adelaide Oval.

Alex Carey was the architect of the win, scoring 101 at the top of the order. Jack Weatherald (36), returning captain Travis Head (25) and Phil Salt (26) all contributed in a 197/5 total.

The Heat never really got going in the run chase and were bowled out for 115. Wes Agar led the way with the ball with 4/27 and Peter Siddle took 3/13 on his return from injury.

Adelaide Strikers Team News

Peter Siddle's return was a welcome boost for the Strikers after a broken hand. He was joined in the attack by Michael Neser for the first time, and the Strikers' bowling looks unlikely to change.

That means more time on the sidelines for Daniel Worrall and Harry Conway.

Jono Wells was left out of the last game to make way for Travis Head and is unlikely to win his place back.
