Boland and Dolphins will face each other in the final of the CSA One Day Cup Division 1 on Sunday in Paarl. Boland finished first in the points table after the group stage, which meant they qualified directly for the final.

Dolphins came through with a terrific win against Titans, where they defended 228 for 8 in Durban. Eventually, Dolphins came awa with a 65-run win that helped them qualify for the final.

Boland are coming into this final on the back of a stellar showing in the group stage, in which they finished with 25 points with five wins and one defeat. They won three of their last four matches to comfortably finish at the top.

Boland don’t have too many concerns with form but they will be aware that they cannot take a side like Dolphins lightly, particularly on the slower pitches that Paarl and Durban provide.

Boland have relied on Gavin Kaplan at No. 3 and Aviwe Mgijima to provide the majority of the runs while their middle order has also shown up in this tournament. Imran Manack has taken 15 wickets, second highest in the tournament, in seven innings at an average of just 14.73.

At one point, it did not look like Dolphins would get close to 200 when they were reduced to 91 for 5. However, Hanu Viljoen’s 57 off 65 balls along with Eathan Bosch’s 40 off 51 balls carried the Dolphins to a respectable score of 228.

Dolphins defended that with vigour as they eventually bowled a strong Titans team out for 163. The slower bowlers did the majority of the damage as Keshav Maharaj, JJ Smuts and Prenelan Subrayen combined to take five wickets. Tristan Luus also claimed three wickets.
