The Super Kings have won six of their last nine matches to rise up into contention for the playoffs but this remains must-win territory. They face a tough task against a Sunrisers side which is chasing a win to see them into the playoffs.

The Super Kings have hit a good run of form before losing to the Super Giants, while the Sunrisers’ dominance in the tournament has hit a bumpy patch with two heavy defeats in their last three matches.

Chennai Super Kings: Their bowling has been inconsistent and has let them down on a number of occasions, putting them in the position of struggling to qualify for the playoffs. There is huge speculation that MS Dhoni will be fit for action almost a year to the day he played his last competitive match, but the likelihood is that he will remain sidelined after so many false starts.
