England vs New Zealand Cricket World Cup Final Preview, Predictions, Betting Tips & Live Stream

England and New Zealand meet to contest the 2019 Cricket World Cup final at Lord’s. Neither side has ever won the showpiece event previously so we are guaranteed a new winner.

The opening pair of England, Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow have been in sublime touch and are both tipped in the batsman match runs market. Martin Guptill has had a terrible World Cup so there is value in backing him to score under 29.5 runs for a fifth consecutive match.

England Form & Team News

England stuttered through the middle stages of the World Cup but have since played some magnificent white ball cricket. Jason Roy has been instrumental with 50+ scores in his last four winnings. In the semi final he scored 85 runs as England chased down Australia’s modest total of 223 runs.

Earlier in the day it was Jofra Archer (2-32) and Chris Woakes (3-20) who tore through the Australia batting line-up to ensure a comfortable passage through to the final for the hosts at Edgbaston.

At 1.33 for an outright win the odds on England are short with home advantage playing a role, but the batsman match runs market has plenty of value on offer. Openers Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow are both tipped to score over 39.5 runs at 1.90.

New Zealand Form & Team News

After impressing early in the campaign New Zealand lost their last three round robin games quite comfortably. The Black Caps are known as the scrappers of the cricketing world and they showed that in their 18 run semi final victory over India.

Stalwarts Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor rescued a stuttering New Zealand batting effort with 67 and 74 runs respectively as they went on to post a 239 run total. It hardly seemed enough but Matt Henry and Trent Boult ran riot through the Indian top order which led to the world No.2 side falling 18 runs short.

New Zealand can be backed at 3.50 to cause another upset but I am focusing on Martin Guptill who I’m backing to score under 29.5 at 1.90.

England vs New Zealand Head to Head

England have beaten New Zealand in 8 of their last 13 ODI matches. In their match earlier in the World Cup England posted 305 runs with Jason Roy scoring 60 and Jonny Bairstow 106 runs. New Zealand never threatened the total as they were bowled out for 186, 119 runs short.

England vs New Zealand Match Up

Jason Roy has turned England’s fortunes around since his return from injury with a few spectacular knocks while Jofra Archer continues to cause opposition batsmen problems with his menacing pace.

New Zealand have struggled in the batting department but their bowlers have flourished. With England’s batting having found some stability Trent Boult and Lockie Ferguson will be key to the Black Caps chances.
