England are second favourites heading into their defence of the Cricket World Cup crown.

Ahead of the start of the World Cup on Thursday morning, England are 11/4 with Coral to lift the trophy once again, with hosts India the only team ahead of them in the betting at 2/1.

Only the West Indies and Australia have successfully retained the Cricket World Cup, but Jos Buttler’s side will be confident they have what it takes to go all the way once again.

“India will undoubtedly be the team to beat in home conditions,” Coral’s Lewis Knowles told FreeTips.com.

“But they do have the look of an ageing side, and second favourites England will fancy their chances of joining the West Indies and Australia as back-to-back winners of the Cricket World Cup.

“The opening game sees a repeat of that dramatic final at Lords back in 2019 when England clinched victory over New Zealand in a super over, and although England are the favourites at 4/9, the Kiwis will surely be hoping to get their revenge and get their campaign off to the perfect start.”
