The Dolphins got their 2022 CSA T20 Challenge off to a winning start. They beat the Knights by eight wickets as they look to go one better than the 2021 runners-up place.

A good bowling performance by the Dolphins saw them restrict the Knights to 128 runs in 20 overs. Keagan Petersen then struck 45 runs while David Miller ended not out on 34 runs.

The Dolphins cruised to victory for the loss of just two wickets and with 12 balls to spare.

It is unlikely that the Dolphins will change their side after winning the opener. Four of their top five batsmen are internationals which makes them clear favourites.

Lions Form

The Lions were 2021 CSA T20 Challenge champions after being the Dolphins in the final. They however got their 2022 campaign off to a poor start, losing by 11 runs to North West.

Bowling first, the Lions looked like they had half the game won when they restricted North West to just 136 runs in their 20 overs.

On a difficult pitch the Lions however struggled. Mitchell van Buuren batted well for 65 runs but no one else scored more than 23 runs as the defending champs ended on 125.

Lions have a very inexperienced side, particularly among the batsmen. Much will fall upon the shoulders of Dominic and Reeza Hendricks.
