India are huge favourites against an out-of-form Bangladesh side. It would take a major upset for The Tigers to pull off a win against the tournament favourites.

The value for me is rather in the run scoring markets where Shubman Gill has been in outstanding form.

Bangladesh have won three of their last five ODIs against India. They last met in 2023 where India won by seven wickets.

Bangladesh Form

Bangladesh come into the Champions Trophy as the lowest ranked side in the competition. Their form has been poor of late as well, losing their last four ODI fixtures.

The Tigers last played an ODI series in December 2024 where they suffered a 3-0 series loss in the West Indies. They did bounce back to win the T20 series thereafter.

To add to their woes, Bangladesh lost their only warmup game against Pakistan Shaheens, basically a Pakistan A side. They were bowled out for a measly 202 runs batting first.

Bangladesh have some real quality in their squad but will have to rely on the more experienced players. Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah have been around for many years and will be key to The Tigers success.

India Form

India will be confident coming into this match against Bangladesh after beating England 3-0 in an ODI series just prior to the tournament. This fixture will be played in Dubai given that it has been deemed unsafe for India to tour Pakistan.

In their last ODI game against England, India batted first, scoring 356 runs. Shubman Gill was the start with bat in hand, scoring 112 off 102 balls. Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer both scored 50+ runs while KL Rahul hit a quick fire 40.

England made a flying start to the run chase but pulled things back quickly once the first wicket fell for 60. In the end, England were all out for 214 runs inside 35 overs.

India Injuries & Team News

India have a very strong squad and can probably pick two very good sides to compete on the international stage. Shubman Gill has seemingly nailed down his spot at the top of the order and Virat Kohli’s return to form could not have come at a better time.
