Cape Town Blitz can get their campaign back on track at Newlands against a Durban Heat side who have yet to win a match in the 2019 Mzansi Super League. The Blitz have been strong at the top of the order so I’m looking at Quinton de Kock and Janneman Malan to pull some punches with the bat.

Cape Town Blitz Form

Cape Town Blitz have had a slight blip in the road with two straight defeats. Their last defeat came in the Cape Town derby against the Paarl Rocks at Newlands. Batting first the Rocks reached 163 runs which seemed a par score on that pitch.

In response the Blitz fell two runs short on 161 runs as Mohammad Nawaz top scored with 41 runs. Neither Quinton de Kock nor Janneman Malan got going for the first time in the tournament.

Malan and De Kock are currently the third and fourth highest run scorers in the competition so I am backing them in the run-scoring markets. De Kock has value at 3.00 to be the Blitz best batsman while I feel Malan will score over 22.5 runs at 1.83.

Cape Town Blitz are rightfully favourites at home with odds of 1.61. Considering the Heat are winless in five matches this season the Blitz should get their season back on track.

Cape Town Blitz News

The Cape Town Blitz have been pretty consistent with team selections thus far with their top order playing well. The middle order might need some work with David Bedingham a viable option despite being a wicket keeper by trade.

Durban Heat Form

Three of the Durban Heat’s opening five matches have rained out while the other two have both ended in defeat. In their last match they lost by five wickets to the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants at St Georges Park.

Alex Hales again failed to make an impact at the top of the order scoring only 5 runs. David Miller and Ravi Bopara rescued the innings with 45 and 57 runs respectively to set the Giants a total of 161 runs for victory.

It came down to the wire but the Giants snuck home with one ball to spare. Keshav Maharaj was superb with the ball taking 1-17 in four overs.

The Durban Heat have lost both completed matches and finished bottom of the 2018 Mzansi Super League. They can be backed against the odds at 2.30 to win.

Durban Heat News

There may be calls for Alex Hales to face the chop but it is unlikely that the selectors will give up on him so soon. The likes of Sarel Erwee will be hoping to get a game at the top of the order but he may have to wait another game or two.

Cape Town Blitz vs Durban Heat Head to Head

These two have already met this season at Kingsmead where the Cape Town Blitz won by 10 runs. Blitz batted first and scored 174 runs and in reply the Heat could only manage 164 runs despite a superb innings of 83 runs by Wihan Lubbe.

Cape Town Blitz vs Durban Heat Betting Odds

The Cape Town Blitz are favoured by the bookmakers at 1.61 with the winless Durban Heat priced at 2.30 for victory at Newlands. In the best batsman market Quinton de Kock is valued at 3.00 to be the Blitz's best batsman followed by Janneman Malan at 4.50.

Despite Alex Hales' poor start to the campaign he can be backed at 4.00 to be the Heat's best batsman with David Miller paying 4.33 in the same market.

Cape Town Blitz vs Durban Heat Match Up

Durban Blitz have a quality bowling line-up and they will need to be at their very best against some of the in-form batsman of the 2019 Mzansi Super League. Quinton de Kock and Janneman Malan regularly get the Blitz off to flying starts which should set us up for an intriguing battle.

Not great but at least Janneman Malan's form continued to save any serious loss.
