Durban Heat travel to Boland Park as their quest for a playoff birth in the 2019 Mzansi Super League is tipped to stay alive against Paarl Rocks. The Heat batsmen have shown some fighting form with Alex Hales and Wihan Lubbe tipped to lead the charge.

Paarl Rocks Form

Paarl Rocks have won two of their last three matches with the last victory coming against bottom of the table Jozi Stars at the Wanderers. The Stars batted first and scored a solid 171 runs as Tabraiz Shamsi took 1-25 in four overs.

The response from the Rocks was shaky as they fell to 53-4. Kyle Verreynne (28), Sibonelo Makhanya (63) and Isuru Udana (28) dug them out of that hole to win by five wickets and with four balls to spare.

James Vince has been the Rocks top scorer in the competition but has scores of one and two runs in his last two innings. He can be backed to be the Rocks best batsman at 4.00 but I am focusing on players in form.

The Rocks are clear at the top to the table and can be backed to win at 1.66. Those are rather short odds considering the unpredictability of T20 cricket and they come up against a Heat side in confident mood.

Paarl Rocks News

Paarl Rocks have done well considering the international quality they have lost through injury. Aiden Markram, JP Duminy and England’s David Willey have all withdrawn. Kyle Verreynne stepped up with some runs in the last match so should keep his spot.

Durban Heat Form

After a frustrating start to the competition with three matches washed out the Durban Heat are finally finding some momentum with two straight wins. They chased down the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants’ 176 runs to win by four wickets in their last match.

It was a record T20 chase at Kingsmead which shows the form the Heat batsmen are in. After a shocking first half of the competition, Alex Hales finally got going scoring 41 runs and is tipped at 4.00 to be their best batsman. Wihan Lubbe’s solid tournament continued with 31 runs while David Miller scored 50 runs.

Wihan Lubbe cannot be ignored with scores of 49 and 31 runs in his last two innings. He is my best bet to get over 22.5 runs at 1.83.

The Durban Heat are underdogs 2.20 but with two wins in a row and the manner of them being rather convincing, I believe they represent value to make it three from three.

Durban Heat News

It is unlikely that the Heat will tinker too much with their side considering the momentum they have built up. Keshav Maharaj has been in fantastic form with the ball and could be popular to the best Heat bowler.

Paarl Rocks vs Durban Heat Head to Head

Paarl Rocks have beaten the Durban Heat in two of their three meetings. The one earlier this season was rained out. Their last outing took place in 2018 with the Heat scoring 154 runs at Boland Park. The Rocks chased the total down with five balls to spare. Faf du Plessis scored 76 runs.

Paarl Rocks vs Durban Heat Betting Odds

Paarl Rocks are favourites at home at 1.66 with the in-form Durban Heat valued at 2.20. The best batsman market has Faf du Plessis and James Vince as the Rocks' favourite at 4.00 while openers Henry Davids and Cameron Delport are both priced at 4.50.

Alex Hales is also at 4.00 to be the Durban Heat's best batsman with Wihan Lubbe at 4.50. The line for the total match runs market is 312.5 with over/under paying 1.83.

What is the weather forecast for Paarl on Wednesday?

The forecast for Paarl is 28 degrees with no rain or cloud. The lead up to Wednesday is much the same so the pitch should suit the batsmen.

Paarl Rocks vs Durban Heat Match Up

The Paarl Rocks have various batsmen who have performed at different times but the recent loss of form for James Vince will be of concern. Tabraiz Shamsi remains they key figure in their bowling unit but containing the in-form Durban Heat batsmen may require more than just him to perform.
