Tshwane Spartans vs Durban Heat Betting Tips - Spartans batsmen to lead them to comfortable victory

Elgar and De Villiers to lead the way as Heat are set to remain winless in Mzansi Super League

Tshwane Spartans host last season’s Mzansi Super League bottom feeders the Durban Heat at Centurion. Spartans are the favourites but still hold value at 1.66. Dean Elgar was impressive in his last innings and could once again prove to be the match-winner.

Tshwane Spartans Form

The Tshwane Spartans eventually got their Mzansi Super League campaign underway after their opening two matches were rained out. Their only completed match thus far was a cracking victory over the Paarl Rocks at Boland Park.

The Rocks were first in with bat in hand with James Vince scoring 86 runs as the Rocks posted a total of 185 runs. A stiff total to chase down but Dean Elgar made it look easy with a crafty and sometimes bludgeoning innings of 88 runs. He will be a popular pick in the run scoring markets.

Theunis de Bruyn contributed 42 runs alongside Elgar as the visitors took their first win by 8 wickets.

The Spartans have arguably the best batting line-up in the competition with AB de Villiers and Heinrich Klaasen also in the mix. They are favourites at 1.66 and as my best bet I am backing them to get over the line in this one.

Tshwane Spartans News

The Spartans have technically only played one match so will be as fresh as daisies. Changes are always difficult to predict during T20 competitions but the top four batsman are unlikely to change. Young sensation Wiaan Mulder will however be hoping to claim the all-rounder spot from Tom Curran.

Durban Heat Form

The Durban Heat finished bottom of the Mzansi Super League in 2018 and their start to this year’s edition as not been kind to them. After having their opening two games rained out they fell 10 runs short against the Cape Town Blitz at Kingsmead in their last match.

The Blitz scored 174 runs as Andile Phehlukwayo impressed with the ball taking 2-34. He will be a popular pick to be the Heat’s best bowler among punters. In response Wihan Lubbe crushed 83 runs but he had little support as the hosts’ fell 10 runs short of the total.

The Heat go into this match as underdogs at 2.20 and will need their batting department to perform a lot better if they are to cause an upset against the much fancied Spartans.

Durban Heat News

There are no reported injury concerns for the Durban Heat but they will hope England international Alex Hales can find some form. He is one of the most destructive batsmen in the game and a performance from him could give the Heat enough for victory.

David Miller will look to fire up the middle order while Keshav Maharaj and Kyle Abbott will be the key men with ball in hand.

Tshwane Spartans vs Durban Heat Head to Head

They are level at one win apiece in their two previous encounters. Durban Heat pulled off a shock win last year at Centurion after AB de Villiers top scored with 93 runs sending the Spartans to a total of 188 runs.

Albie Morkel responded with a blistering 53 runs as the Heat hit the winning runs off the penultimate ball of the match, thus winning by two wickets.

Tshwane Spartans vs Durban Heat Betting Odds

The Tshwana Spartans are clear favourites at 1.66 to win at Centurion while last season's bottom team the Durban Heat can be backed against the odds at 2.20.

The batting markets are not available as yet but you can back any batsman to go over 63.5 runs at 1.83. Under is paying the same price.

Tshwane Spartans vs Durban Heat Match Up

The Spartans are littered with talent in the batting department. AB de Villiers has yet to fire this season but is still considered to be among the best in the world. Keeping him and Elgar quiet will be a great test for the Heat bowlers, but if they manage it an away win isn’t off the cards.
