Netherlands and Namibia will continue their battle in the ICC World Cricket League 2 after their last low-scoring thriller last week. Netherlands found a way to defend a score of 159 in that match as they bowled Namibia out for 106.

Namibia have now lost two low-scoring games on the bounce, which will be a bit concerning considering this is their backyard. They were unable to get past Canada’s score in the previous match even with just one required off two balls with one wicket in hand.

Netherlands have had several batting issues this year, and even towards the end of last year. However, they found a way past most of those problems with their bowling that continues to win them tight games.

Bernard Scholtz has been terrific in this leg of the World Cricket League 2. Even in the previous match, he claimed figures of 3 for 26 against Canada in his nine overs. Shaun Foche also chipped in with three wickets while Gerhard Erasmus took one wicket.

Erasmus showed his class as an allrounder with 41 off 56 balls in tricky batting conditions. However, the rest of the batting faded away as they could only muster a Super Over while chasing the DLS target of 175 against Canada in 39 overs.

Namibia have some serious personnel issues that they need to fix urgently. Even in these conditions, it may be time to play an additional spinner considering the slower nature of the pitches.

Netherlands Form

Of the three matches so far, two have been rained out against Canada. That has left Netherlands with only one completed match in the Windhoek leg. In that match, their openers Vikramjit Singh and Max O’Dowd put on a terrific 84-run opening stand but they were still bowled out for 159.

Their spinners came into the game in a big way to then bowl Namibia out for 106, led by Aryan Dutt’s 3 for 28 and Zach Lion-Cachet’s 3 for 15. Even Colin Ackermann took one wicket for just 6 runs in his four overs.
