Australia will be looking for a clean sweep in the series as they host India in the 3rd ODI at the Manuka Oval on Wednesday. It has been a run-fest in the first two ODIs in Sydney and that is likely to continue in Canberra with both batting line-ups firing on all cylinders.

Australia Form

After winning the 1st ODI by 66 runs at the SCG, Australia repeated the feat in the 2nd ODI, winning by 51 runs. The hosts again batted first and went even bigger than the previous match, scoring 389 runs.

The top five batsmen of Australia all scored 50+ runs with Steven Smith scoring his second successive century (104). David Warner and Aaron Finch put on 142 runs for the first wicket before Finch was dismissed for 60 runs. Glenn Maxwell put the finishing touches to the innings with a 29 ball 63.

India batted brilliantly in response with Mitchell Starc once again struggling with the ball. In the end, the Aussies had just too many runs as India finished on 338 runs.

Australia Team News

David Warner injured his groin while fielding in the 2nd ODI. His likely replacement at the top of the order will be Matthew Wade.

Having claimed the series win, Australia are also likely to give Andrew Tye, Daniel Sams, Cameron Green, Sean Abbott and Ashton Agar a run in the final match.

India Form

India will be pleased with their batting efforts in the first two ODIs but their bowlers have not performed thus far. No team will win too many games if their bowlers are conceding 350+ runs on a regular basis.

In the 2nd ODI at the SCG, India allowed Australia to get to 389 runs as their bowlers regularly missed the ideal length on Australian wickets. Jasprit Bumrah struggled yet again, conceding 79 runs in his 10 overs.

In response, Virat Kohli led the charge with 89 runs. While he was there with KL Rahul (76) India had a chance but the dismissal of Kohli signaled the end of the visitors’ chances. One of them really needed to score 150+.

India will be desperate to avoid a 3-0 clean sweep and perhaps on the slower wicket of the Manuka Oval they’ll fancy their chances.

India Team News

India are unlikely to look to make too many changes. It is a long tour ahead and they’ll need their stars to get into form rather than resting them.

Australia vs India Head to Head

Australia vs India Match Up

The Manuka Oval may offer India some respite with the pitch likely to suit them a bit more. If Australia rest some players it could offer India an opportunity considering that their batting has fired, their bowlers just need to contain Steven Smith and co.
