Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka Predictions

Bangladesh have won 12 of their last 13 ODI fixtures on home soil. My best bet is for them to win again and take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.

  • Bangladesh have won 12 of their last 13 home matches.
  • Bangladesh’s Tamim Iqbal has scored 64, 50, 44 & 52 runs in his last 4 home ODIs.
  • Sri Lanka’s Danushka Gunathilaka has scored 55, 96 & 36 runs in 3 of his last 4 ODIs.
  • Sri Lanka have lost their last 4 ODI matches.

Head to Head

Sri Lanka have won three of their last four ODI matches against Bangladesh. It is however Bangladesh who took a 1-0 lead in the current series with a 33-run win in Dhaka on Sunday.

Bangladesh Form

Bangladesh have been in incredible form at home in the ODI format. They have won 12 of their last 13 50-over fixtures on home soil.

In the 1st ODI against Sri Lanka, they kept their fine record going with a 33-run victory in Dhaka. Batting first, Tamim Iqbal scored 52 runs at the top of the order. Mushfiqur Rahim hit 84 runs off 87 balls to set Bangladesh up for a decent total while Mahmudullah contributed 54 runs.

The 257 run total was not as imposing as the hosts would have liked but a superb bowling performance by Mehidy Hasan Miraz got them over the line. He took 4-30 in his 10 overs.

Sri Lanka could only muster 224 runs before being bowled out with two overs to spare.

Bangladesh Injuries & Team News

Bangladesh are unlikely to make any changes following their victory in the last match.

Sri Lanka Form

Sri Lanka came up short in the 1st ODI against Bangladesh in Dhaka by 33 runs. It began well for the visitors as they had Bangladesh on the ropes at 99-4 but then allowed the hosts to dominate the middle overs.

Dhananjaya de Silva was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3-45 in 10 overs as Sri Lanka restricted the hosts to 257 runs. Sri Lanka initially started well with the bat as Danushka Gunathilaka hit 21 and Kusal Perera 30 runs before it all fell apart.

In a blink of an eye Sri Lanka found themselves at 102-6 and seemingly out of the contest. Wanindu Hasaranga then smashed 74 off 60 balls to give the visitors a fighting chance but once he was dismissed there was nothing left.

Sri Lanka Injuries & Team News

There were three positive COVID-19 test results prior to the 1st ODI but two of those have come back negative now. It has not been made clear who those three were.

Dimuth Karunaratne and Angelo Mathews have missed this tour following a pay dispute between the players and the board. Sri Lanka should play with a similar lineup depending on COVID-19 test results today.
