England vs India Preview & Betting Tips

England will play India in the first game of the ODI series at Trent Bridge. The hosts will have a tough time on their hands after succumbing to the visitors in the T20 series in Bristol. India are in outstanding form and should prove to be too strong for the Three Lions.

England

After spanking an undermanned Australian side 5-0, England faces a serious threat to their No.1 ODI ranking. England were outplayed in the T20 series in Bristol and the return of all-rounder Ben Stokes failed to make an impact. Stokes came into the side at expense of Joe Root who is under real pressure to retain a place in the side with the World Cup on the horizon in England next year.

Alex Hales move to first drop could pave dividends for the hosts. Hales hit 147 in the series against Australia and will be expected to take the fight to India’s mystery spinners.

India

India lost pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah to a broken thumb and have opted to replace him with Shardul Thakur. Thakur will enjoy the conditions at Trent Bridge and will be making his fourth appearance for India after taking 4-wickets against South Africa.

India boasts one of the most formidable batting cards in one day cricket spearheaded by the skipper Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Kohli has hit three centuries in his last six innings and Sharma is in form after cracking a 56-ball century in his last innings against the hosts. The visitors have won their last six ODI series and should prove too strong for the hosts in the series opener.
