England and Ireland meet for the 3rd ODI of the three-match series at the Rose Bowl on Tuesday. It will be the third ODI in the space of five days and with the first two matches ending in low scoring encounters, I don't see the pitch offering the batsmen much assistance this time around.

England Form

England lead the series 2-0 after claiming the first two ODIs but it has not all been plain sailing for the World Champions. On both occasions they have dug a hole for themselves chasing very modest totals.

In the 2nd ODI at the Rose Bowl Ireland batted first, England reduced them to 78-5. A recovery effort by Ireland’s lower order got the visitors to a total of 212 runs.

Jonny Bairstow flew out of the blocks by smashing 82 of 41 balls but those around him struggled. At 137-6 England were in danger but Sam Billings scored 46 not out to follow up his 50+ runs in the 1st ODI to take England home by 4 wickets.

England News

England have lost middle-order batsman Joe Denly for the series due to injury. Further changes could see Tom Banton get an opportunity to open the batting while Liam Livingstone may come into the middle-order.

Ireland Form

Ireland’s top order failed for the second time in the series after opting to bat first in the 2nd ODI against England. At 91-6 it was left to youngster Curtis Campher to pull them out of a hole for the second game in a row.

After scoring an impressive half-century in the 1st ODI, Campher once again showed his class by scoring 68 runs to take Ireland to a competitive total of 212 runs. The youngster then took 2-50 but England ended up strolling home by four wickets with 18 overs to spare.

Ireland News

Ireland will be keen to put in solid performance so should stick with much of the same side. Veteran Boyd Rankin may come in to bolster the bowling line-up while all-round Curtis Campher is almost certain to bat in the top six.

England vs Ireland Head to Head

England hold a 10-1 advantage over Ireland in their 12 matches. There was one no result. England won their last encounter by four wickets at the Rose Bowl.

England vs Ireland Odds

England are short priced at 1.06 to win with Ireland available at 10.00 on bet365.

Jonny Bairstow is the favourite to be England’s best batsman at 3.25 while Jason Roy is available at 3.60.

England vs Ireland Match Up

Ireland’s top order failed again in the 2nd ODI which meant Curtin Campher was once again left with the responsibility of getting them to a decent total. England have struggled with the bat in the series too which may lead to another low scoring match.
