England vs Pakistan Predictions
England completely dominated the 1st ODI against Pakistan despite fielding a weakened side. My best bet is for them to continue that form with a series clinching victory at Lord’s.
- England’s Dawid Malan has scored 76 & 68* runs in his last 2 limited overs matches.
- England have won 5 of their last 6 ODI matches against Pakistan.
- Pakistan’s Babar Azam has scored 103 & 94 runs in 2 of his last 4 ODI matches.
- Pakistan’s Babar Azam averages 56.79 in ODI cricket.
Head to Head
England have won five of their last six ODI matches against Pakistan. In the first match of this series England won by nine wickets in Cardiff.
England will be pleased after winning the 1st ODI against Pakistan despite having none of their players available that featured against Sri Lanka.
Eoin Morgan won the toss and elected to field first, a good decision given the conditions. England’s bowlers took full advantage, especially Saqib Mahmood who took 4-42. They dismissed Pakistan for a paltry 141 runs.
The result was inevitable from thereon in. England wasted little time with the bat, scoring the runs in just over 21 overs for the loss of one wicket.
Dawid Malan top scored with 68* runs while Zak Crawley contributed an unbeaten 58 runs in a nine wicket win.
England Injuries & Team News
England remain without the players that featured against Sri Lanka. After their scintillating performance in the 1st ODI an unchanged lineup is expected.
Pakistan went into the 1st ODI as favourites with England missing so many first choice players. They however failed to capitalise and lost by nine wickets in Cardiff.
Batting first, Fakhar Zaman top scored with 47 runs but no other batsman passed the 30-run mark. The 141-run total was never going to be enough to challenge England, albeit a weakened side.
Shaheen Shah Afridi bowled well, taking 1-22 in five overs but there was never enough scoreboard pressure on the English batsmen.
Pakistan Injuries & Team News
Pakistan won’t look to change too much after one defeat. They remain a very strong ODI side with Babar Azam at the helm.
Haris Sohail has however been ruled out of the series with a hamstring injury.
