England vs Sri Lanka Predictions

Joe Root has shown some fine form with two 50+ scores in the last two matches. Alongside him, Jonny Bairstow’s consistency continues. The best bet is for Bairstow to score over 28.5 runs.

  • England’s Joe Root has scored 79* & 68* runs in his last 2 matches.
  • England’s Jonny Bairstow has scored 51, 43 & 29 runs in his last 3 limited overs matches.
  • England’s Jonny Bairstow has scored 29+ runs in 8 of his last 10 limited overs matches.
  • Sri Lanka’s Kusal Perera has scored 120 & 73 runs in 2 of his last 3 ODI matches.
  • Sri Lanka have lost 7 of their last 8 ODI matches.

Head to Head

England lead Sri Lanka 5-2 over their last seven ODI matches. England lead the current series 2-0 after an eight wicket win at Chester-le-Street in the 2nd ODI.

England Form

England are 2-0 up in this three-match series after winning the 2nd ODI at Chester-le-Street by eight wickets.

Sri Lanka once again batted first and put up a bit more of a fight this time around, scoring 241 runs in their 50 overs. Sam Curran took 5-48 and David Wiley 4-64 for England.

The target was never really big enough to trouble England. Jason Roy scored 60 at the top of the order to get the hosts off to a fine start.

Joe Root and Eoin Morgan then took the hosts home by scoring 68 and 75 runs respectively. Both of them ended not out.

England Injuries & Team News

England have called up Tom Banton as cover for the injured Dawid Malan.

With the series won we could see players such as Liam Dawson and George Garton get a run.

Sri Lanka Form

Sri Lanka will be a bit more pleased with their performance in the 2nd ODI after an atrocious tour thus far.

They batted first and were again in early trouble at 21-4 but Dhananjaya de Silva (91) and Dasun Shanaka (47) rescued the cause to see the visitors’ post 241 runs.

The bowlers toiled hard on a good batting surface but only managed to remove two England batsmen. In the end England won by eight wickets with seven overs to spare, but the batting improvement will give them some confidence ahead of the final match.

Sri Lanka Injuries & Team News

Sri Lanka’s options are limited in terms of selection after three players were sent home last week. They will probably go into the match with the same lineup, depending on conditions.
